JOB SUMMARY:

The role of the HDS Supervisor is to assist the HDS Manager in the administration and implementation of the HDS Career Development Program. The HDS Supervisor plays a key role in enabling participating team members to develop skills to successfully perform in current/future positions within the company.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Identify and recruit eligible HDS Associates and community youth.
  • Develop, maintain and update HDS Program Manual.
  • Handles individualized development, goal setting and career planning for HDS Associates.
  • Works with operations managers and trainers to develop department expectations, analyze performance and provide feedback on performance of participants.
  • Responsible for conducting rotational, mid-year and annual performance reviews with associates.
  • Conducts coaching sessions with associates as necessary.
  • Monitor and assist with the department budget.
  • Assist with coordinating advisory board meetings and press releases.
  • Assists with coordinating HDS Advisory Board meetings.
  • Prepare and submit regular and special reports and presentations for initiatives, training and development, performance, etc.
  • Responsible for preparing and monitoring schedules for the HDS Associates and community youth.
  • Monitor work hours of HDS Associates and community youth in UKG.
  • Assists with coordinating Toastmaster attendance and tasks for the HDS Associates and community youth.
  • Demonstrates expertise in all service standards and clearly communicates expectations to team members.
  • Rigorously hold all team members accountable for exhibiting all service standards at all times and ensure they know the value that these behaviors create for the guests, employees and Company
  • Models a passion for the Company mission, vision and values as well as inspiring team members to do the same.
  • Executes the Service Recovery model at a proficient level as well as ensuring all team members are empowered to efficiently utilize the tools of the service recovery model.
  • Must be an effective coach and developer of team members by using the leader coaching skills.
  • Creates onboarding training experiences for new hires to set them up for success.
  • Creates and updates training and development tools
  • Motivates the team to work toward peak performance
  • Understands community aspects, cultural values, goals, and attributes pertaining to the Ak-Chin Indian Community.
  • Possesses interpersonal skills to help community members succeed by positively connecting and engaging with the program participants, team members, management, and the Ak-Chin Indian Community.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Works with operators to train and develop HDS graduates as well as community members who are non-HDS program employees.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with employees at all organizational levels
  • Acts as a role model to other employees and always presents self as a credit to Harrah’s and encourages others to do the same.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, property and company policies in an ethical manner.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Plan and execute career development activities including marketing, promotional materials, job fairs etc. for potential HDS associates and community youth.
  • Confers and executes with management, employees, community and corporate personnel to determine and identify employee and career/community development needs.
  • Oversees and administers the HDS cross-training, internal mentoring and internship programs.
  • Consistently manages employee labor through efficient scheduling and staffing to business volume and demand
  • Demonstrates ways of reducing cost when executing on inventories and ordering
  • Must think creatively and innovatively to identify cost savings opportunities at all times

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum one year leadership experience, education, self-directed learning, career development or related experience/field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred.
  • Experience in conducting/facilitating adult training courses preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must present a well-groomed appearance.
  • Computer literacy; Intermediate to advanced
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office required) and other system experience preferred.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
  • Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business.
  • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information.

  • Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the casino.
  • Must have bending mobility.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds for a short period of time.
  • Must be able to follow company guidelines, policies and departmental directives.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items while working at assigned desk area.
  • Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment, including a 10-key adding machine, PC computers, fax machine and photo copier.
  • Must be able to work at a fast pace and in stressful situations.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must be able to work on a computer for long periods of time
